Little Treasures Collection

I recently finished my first set of little treasure drawings/quilts. The process of doing the drawings, painting them, cutting out all my layers of fabric and paper, hand sewing them together, inserting the backing, and attaching the hanging device on the back- is much more than I originally intended! My first idea was to do a ton of these drawing of precious objects- from spools of thread to bird’s feathers, but the intention was for them to be pretty fast and easy. However, as usual, I’ve turned it into more work than I thought! But by turning them into small hanging pieces that are reminiscent of quilt squares I believe that I’ve enuciated the treasure like, intimate quality of each. Now they go from being one out of a hundred little drawings to being celebrated in their detail. Too bad I still want to make a lot more! I’ve completed twelve and am working on another 12 now. If I could come up with fifty over the next few months I would be quite satisfied. Although each is beautiful on its own, my vision is to hang them as a grid all on one wall- or maybe as two neighboring grids. That way they would reference quilts even more strongly as well as relate to the rest of my quilt-like work. Let me know what you think!
